Records of Rights Interactives from Second Story on Vimeo.
This interactive table and wall experience with an accompanying online exhibition immerses visitors of all ages in the quest for justice and equality in the United States.
From the abolition of slavery to defining workplace rights, protecting privacy to censorship, the permanent Records of Rights exhibit at the David M. Rubenstein Gallery at the National Archives draws on the Archives’ extensive collection of historic documents, images, and videos to share the history of the American struggle for freedom. At the center of the exhibit, a 15’ multi-touch, multi-user table allows individuals and groups to explore a wealth of diverse content. Simple, color-coded themes help users navigate the table, and they can search across categories to investigate the areas that interest them most. Scrollable timelines create visual narratives that expand and contract, and influencing events give greater context to the stories. Users can pinch and zoom for a closer look at the remarkable documents and photographs.
Perhaps most importantly, the table urges visitors to talk to each other about what they’re discovering. They can tag records with their emotional reactions and post these responses to nearby wall monitors for fellow visitors to see. Active table stations receive a notification when a record is shared, encouraging users to start a dialogue about the table’s content and deepening their engagement with the exhibit.
An accompanying online exhibition takes the important stories of triumph and struggle in our country beyond the gallery’s walls, allowing users to explore the table's content from anywhere in the world.

The Universe: A Walk through Space and Time from M1_Interactive on Vimeo.
The Universe: A Walk through Space and Time is a sleek interactive exhibition installed at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago. Visitors encounter the Universe through the M1 designed and programmed interactives that show audiences how galaxies, stars, planets – and even the very atoms in their bodies – were created as the Universe grew. A spectacular cinematic projection wall showcases the vast enormity of regions farther than our Solar System, taking spectators billions of light-years from Earth to the edge of the cosmos, while touch screens allow them to investigate the diverse and beautiful objects of deep space.
A spectacular overhead projection allows visitors to zoom from one wondrous location in the Universe to another, showing ultra high resolution images of the most beautiful objects in deep space. Using interactive stations in the exhibition, visitors can send e-postcards to themselves from Neptune, the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda galaxy, and the Coma Cluster of galaxies.
At the end of their deep space journey, audiences are left with a greater awareness of how extensive the Universe is, and that it continues to evolve. While scientists have uncovered many mysteries of the cosmos, the opportunities for exploration remain limitless. M1 designed the interactive systems, projection, lighting sound design. We were contracted to provide all equipment for the installation design automation procedures to run for the next 10-15 years.

2009 - Final career project - Interactive Floor Engine from Alberto Milà Díaz on Vimeo.
Project created during February / March '09 at the MediaLab La Salle.
The engine has been developed with Processing and allows easy-to-build applications made with any programming language, both for interactive floors and touch screens.
It consists of several modules which permit calibration, communication and rich design. The core works based on IR modified webcams and vertical projections theory. Blobs detection is achieved through image treatment / comparisson and with JMyron's Processing library.
The main differential feature is the integration of a communication module which boosts interaction (the example applications in the video show "Nintendo DS" look alike functionalities).
The engine also uses the ColourLovers online API to offer elegant color palettes.
I hope you enjoy the video!

Concepto

Concept
Dermis is the result of research on the possibilities of new materials like man-machine interfaces. Based on the work of A. Sherwood and M. Allison "Firewall", we started working with Lycra screens and developing an interactive system that recognizes the deformations of the interface. The result: a touch screen that also monitors pressure.

Portable Large Interactive Display Concept from Hiep Truong on Vimeo.
This is a video showing some aspects of the results of my graduation project.
What you see here is a portable device which enables users to transform any bright flat surface into a large interactive touch screen.
For my master thesis at the Faculty of Industrial Design at the University of Technology in Delft I developed a portable system which allows users to create a 60inch multi-touch projection at virtually any flat surface. The concept featured a suitcase containing all the necessary components to create an interactive surface on a flat bright table.
An application is developed to support users in the building industry in performing ad-hoc meetings where large scale building plans can be projected and discussed on a meeting table.
This is still a concept, an actual product can be much smaller and refined. Stay tuned for a more better presentation of the concept.
Graduation project for DPI Animation House Sept 2008 - Apr 2009.
